coming into this yerars Masters tournamnet, there was a lot of expectations and excitement. Tiger Woods had seen to return to his original form. He was at the top of his game. The fourteen year old winner from the asian pacific am Tong Wong (not his actual name) was the youngest competitor in master history More impressivly he made the cut and was the only amateur in the field to do so. Wow thats crazy. Cool beans. As the tournament progressed the field narrowed and those who were on top of their game started to prevail. Sunday, Tiger Red Sunday watched Tiger try to make a move up the leader board but failed. At the end of the 72 holes Cabrera (Argentinean) and Scott (Australlian) were tied at both 8 under par. After both making par on the first playoff hole Adam Scott drained a beautiful birdie putt on the 2nd playoff hole (hole 10) . He went on to become the first Australlian to ever win the Masters. The Masters is golfs most prestigious tournament and to be a champion is something special all on its own.
Green Jacket - The winning prize
The green jacket is something special just like being a champion at the masters. The masters is golfs most prestigious golf tournament always held at Augusta National. They have a champions dinner, and are really treated like royalty every time they return. Tiger Woods has 4 masters wins 1 aways from Jack Nicholos ' 5. He will surely get there in his career in my opinon.
This is the end of my blogs. I now have 10 for a 10 out of 10. Peace out yo....and Thans Tina.
So I sit here on my couch and I honestly cannot believe my eyes. The Leafs have a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win over New Jersey tonight. This will be the first time in 9 years that the leafs have made the playoffs and the last team since the 2005 lockout to make the playoffs out of the entire NHL. I am just watching something to go wrong. Do the leafs have their typical season collapse? Or is this the year they really turn it around. Now since this post is not nearly long enough I will ramble on about some cool stuff lol. Let's see. I saw the winter classic jerseys for next year. They look pretty cool.
Winter Classic Jersyes - 2014
I was fortunate enough to be at the game last monday where they beat New York Ranges. They had Wendel Clark wearing the jersey and giving away some winter Classic jerseys as well. What else to talk about. Oh yeah, I am really excited to see HBO'S 24/7 with the leafs on it. 24/7 is a program that follows around the two teams in the winter classic. It gives you a behind the scenes look at how the team operates and how the players are. It is really neat to see the different side of the players with the helmets off. It shows they are just really like big kids who like to have fun. Here is probably the most talked about clip from 24/7 last year.
Don't worry all goalies are like that.....just really weird. Doesn't mean it is a bad thing. So here is to the leafs clenching the playoffs.....and to them being on 24/7 next year. Seems like there are only good things to come.
With the hockey playoffs around the corner it is time for me to break down my top contenders. The regular season is alot different than the playoffs. As of ight now the Toronto Maple Leafs (my team) is sitting in 5th place. They are currently 7 points ahead of the Winnipeg Jets who sit in 9th and have played one more game than the Leafs. Unless there is a monumental collapse the Leafs should make the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. The Leafs are the only team in the NHL since the lockout in 2005 to have not made the playoffs. Pretty embarassing if you ask me. My hope is that the leafs do not have to play Boston in the first round, which if everything ended today would happen. Here is a look at the standings as they are right now. The most ideal situation would be if Boston who is 1 point behind Montreal would take over as top of the North East division. If Boston were to finsh ahead of Montreal it looks like the Leafs would play Montreal in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. This is a matchup that I would be hopefull for. The Leafs are an all around good team who are tough and gritty. However in my honest opinion Boston is tough and more skilled than the Leafs so this matchup wouldn't be favourable.
In the playoffs it is key to have a hot goalie. Every Stanley cup championship team has had a hot goalie that has stolen at least a couple games for them in the playoffs. Unfortunately I do not believe Reimer is at that status yet. He may never get there. However he is the best option for the Leafs. The hope is that he will find that fire he had two years ago where he looked like one of the leagues top goalies for a little stretch. However being consistant is extremely important for goalies and I have not yet seen that consitence in Reimer. The hot goalie aspect to win a series is what worries me when it comes to Montreal. Carrey Price is an extremely talented and poised goaltender. His accomplishments and accalades speak for themselves. He is a proven tested and strong goalie. Toronto destroyed Montreal last time they played on Saturday. That scares me aswell because Price will not have the same performance agaisnt the leafs again. Maybe not in his career. Montreal I believe is a bit more skilled but Toronto as proven over this year is a tougher and grittier team. They out work Montreal and have enough skilled players to finish. I believe that this is a series the Leafs would take and one I want to see. An original six rivalry. The only downside is that if the Leafs lose, which they wont, we would never hear the end of it from those stupid Habs fans.
First of all congrats to Louisville for winning the NCAA tournament. After hearing all the hype about the Candian players on the number 1 ranked Gonzaga and Stauskus on Michigan. It was another player, Trey Burke who stole the tournament spotlight. In my opinion he was by far the best player of the tournament. He led his team in points when he needed to but was also the one setting up his teammates at every change he got. He really got everyone involved. Overall he had the best tournament compared to other players. Hisb stats for the tournament speak for themselves. Michigan was a number 4 ranked team going into the tournament and Burke's all around best game was against the the well known and acclaimed number 1 Kansas. Burke scored 23 points and netted 10 assists. This is an amazing game for a college player. In my opinion he was the single most exciting player to watch in the tournament aswell. He was not the fastest point gaurd or the best shooting point gaurd However his change of pace and ball handelling skills far exceeded any others. He was the best all around best player in my opinon.
Trey Burke
Moving on to the most fun team to watch. I think everyone would agree that FGCU aka Dunk City was the most overall fun and exciting team to watch. The first 15 seed to ever make it to the sweet 16, this was truly a cinderella team. If only they could have gone on the win the tournament it would have been one of the best sports stories of all time. FGCU Eagles were a team that looked like they just loved to have fun. The whole time they looked like they were enjoying every second and living every moment to the fullest. Not to mention they were the most atheletic team in the tournament flying high at every chance they got. They through alley oops, blocked shots, shot 3s, had fast breaks and high steals. They were awesome and just kept winning. Too bad every Cinderella story has to end as the clock always strikes midnight. Enjoy this Dunk City video in case you missed what they were all about.
Hey, so I just bought a flex pack for Jays tickets for the summer. It is actually a pretty sweet deal if any one is interested. You can check out the Toronto Blue Jays Flex Tickets tickets yourself, but let me explain. The flex games are a package deal. They come in 10 games, 15 and 40. There are various savings at each level. I have chosen to go with the 15 flex games and they are all weekend games. Saturday and Sunday 1 o'clock perfect for me. You get choose the tickets you want. I have done it with 3 other friends for a total of 4 tickets. We have gone up in the 500s for our games as they are significantly cheaper. It is actually a really awesome deal and you should seriously consider checking it out if you are a fan of baseball or just a fan of the Blue Jays. It comes out to cost about 8 dollars per game per person. Not to shabby if you ask me. I have seen a couple games from the 500's and the view isn't that bad at all and it is a party and half. I seriously urge you to go check out a game. Hopefully the Jays will turn it around and start playing some solid ball. Dickey needs to figure it out as well. I need to keep talking to fill up some space and get some more words on this shizznit. I wonder how many I have now...let me check...holly I need to write a couple more. I think as long as I put the effort to get some words on here she will appreciate that. Here is a picture of the Blue Jays logo.
Jays Babyyyy
They will start gelling and getting it together I'm sure. Reyes and Dickey both seem like really cool guys from the interviews and behind the scenes training camp videos. They all seem to be getting along nicely so let's hope it translates on the field. I watch this interview documentary type thing on R.A. Dickey called up close. It was actually really sweet and his story is very compelling and moving. I suggest you check it out. Here is a little pre season Jays promo video. Lets go boyyyssssss.
Well Well Well, k let me ramble on about my fantasy team. I went into the draft with second pick. Somehow people doubted Sid the Kid and he didn't go first. When he fell to second place I had to take him. He's the new captain Canada how can you not. Oh side note go this wicked new jets sweater at Nike outlet yesterday, wearing ti to your class tomorrow. Back to fantasy. So my two centeres are Crosby and Kopitar. Both have played solid for me all year round. I am going into the finals next week and can win a decent amount of money. With Crosby injured I am going to need some players to step their games up. Everyone in my league chages their teams around so much all year and I stayed with the team that I drafted for the most part. I finished the league's regular season in first place and plan to finish the playoffs in first place and exit as champion. It will be my first league championship in fantasy hockey. It will feel nice to have some extra cash and some bragging rights to some friends. I have Kane and Ladd on my team both them play for the jets. Not my New York Jets though, Winnipeg. I got Big Buff from Winnipeg too along with Chara from Boston. Just big d men that can lay the body and score some goals for me. Well lets wish me luck in the finals. Check out this wicked Fantasy Files football video. A bunch of the players joked around and made a video showing why you should pick them on your team.
The three main teams in Toronto always seem to disappoint. Over the last week two stars for two different teams have been hurt. Lupul who came back from a previous injury on terror is now sidelined with a concussion. The latest to go down was Reyes, the newest shortstop the Jays acquired in the off season. He has been sidelined for 1-3 months with a sprained ankle. The Jays have been struggling but have turned it up as of late. Now one off their key off-season pieces is gone. Not to mention Lawrie still has not returned to the line up due to injury. For once things seem to be going good to for the leafs. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart like it usually does. Since this is being marked for school but not on the content I am jsut going to ramble on. Maybe throw some sweet pictures up. Like this of of Reyes ankle.
Reyes - 1-3 Months - Sprained Ankle
It looked bad but nothing like Ware from Louisvilles did. Man was that bad. K cool now what do I talk about. Lets see, I'm going into the finals in my fantasy hockey league and can win money. I made it their with my best player injured (Crosby) What to do now, I guess I have to drop him since he won't be back and pick up somebody who is hot. Somebody who has a lot of games. Or do I continue with my team that has gotten me here. Let us see. Well wish me luck on the finals. They start tomorrow. Have to study more for the test tonight as well.
